KJV Revelation 21: 1-2 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Two Jerusalems are mentioned in Scripture (see Galatians 4:25, 26 and Hebrews 12:22). One is earthly and the home of the believers during the millennial period. The other is heavenly-as the New Jerusalem The New Jerusalem is undoubtedly the one Christ has been preparing for over 2,000 years This magnificent masterpiece descending toward earth reminds one of the elegant beauty of a bride on her wedding day. When we look a little further into this chapter we will see where John was carried away in the Spirit to a great high mountain, and there he saw this great city that God had prepared , [ the holy Jerusalem ] descending out of heaven from God, so we see this is not the Jerusalem that we know today, but a brand new one , and I mean new not something that God had to rebuild.

KJV Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

We seen back in the third chapter of revelation where Christ said he would write the name of God, and the name of the city of God,[ which is new Jerusalem which cometh down out of heaven from God, so we know that this is not the Jerusalem that is in Israel.

KJV Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Verse 3: And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. To this point in time, God's Tabernacle has been located in heaven. Now we discover a change of address. The Almighty descends to earth with His heavenly entourage, settling in the New Jerusalem. The redeemed-in their glorified bodies-live in the New Jerusalem The true beauty of the entire scene is that God dwells in the midst of His people, for a voice cries, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God, and those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb will forever be with the Lord, even from the catching away of those who are in Christ, there will be no separation from the Lord, and we find comfort in these words.

KJV 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Not only will those who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb be with Christ around the throne while the tribulation is going on, but they shall return with him as kings and priests, and reign with him a thousand years, but they will be with him in the New Jerusalem eternal.

KJV Revelation 7:14-17 14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. 16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
